Kate Bosworth for CK
8 June, 2008

@#$%, Kate Bosworth is beautiful.
I’ve stared at this visual merchandise display for a long long time. There’s something about the use of black and white photography and that amount of white space that makes the experience of merely looking at a poster with Kate Bosworth wearing Calvin Klein so… breath-taking and luxurious.
This is the second time I caught myself awe-struck at a poster; the first time was for John Mayer in a Gap campaign.
I really can’t afford CK or Gap clothing all the time, but having displays like these invite you to the store and somehow strive to carry a similar fashion. Ahh, I’m experiencing the wonders of marketing!
When my brother and I roam malls for window/idea-shopping, we tend to heavily criticize Philippine fashion visual merchandise. We shut up as we pass by foreign designer shops.
I don’t mean to discriminate between Filipino- versus international- fashion branding displays. I mean, I like foreign displays better usually because most would highlight their fashion design, rather than the models who wear them. There’s more minimalism in design in foreign-brand displays that allows you to focus on their clothes better. Compare CK, Gap or Topshop, to say the effect that the local Bench or Penshoppe has on us consumers (there’s a pun there! a pun! XD)! It’s as if they’re scared of white space! Let’s fill everything with everything we can kinda design nature.
…Well it figures. Most Filipino shoppers would rather buy in places that look so… TV/showbiz-like. XD
I’m happy enough that we get to have designer shops which share amazing buyer experiences here in the country!
